  • May 31, 1968:

Taken to the hospital in the evening for x-ray examination of the intestine (barium). I had been on fast all day long and hence I felt I would faint during the examination. This has been my second outing from the jail during the long seven and half years that I am in jail. In the hospital among doctors and nurses I felt the warmth of humanity, and therefore, although I felt very weak and exhausted on account of the journey and the medical examination that I was subjected to, I became exhilarated with a dose of fresh human emotions in the company of the doctors and the nurses. I was particularly filled with pleasure by small normal talks with the young nurse, who incidentally told me that the recipe of health is lot of food, lot of sleep and lot of carefreeness.

  • June 6, 1968:

Unscheduled interview with Sushila, children, TP, Rosa and Girija. The officers withdrew after explaining that the interview would be private, without their presence. Girija explained to me the political situation and development that are taking place outside. The interview lasted about an hour.

About Tulsi Giri there are two opinions, namely (1) that he is the King's man and (2) that he is China's man (His imprisonment is on account of his contact with China). As per the second opinion, SP's opinion conforms with this. But I think he is wrong. Tulsi (Tulsi Giri) is an instrument of the palace. His recent arrest was made in order to build him up as a political figure. King's illness is genuine, but the advice of the doctors on his arrival for three months rest is fake. TP thinks that it is not a political rest; that he is genuinely ill and that doctors have told him that he cannot survive beyond three more years etc.
